  SunTek PPF Post-Care & FAQ

Welcome! First and foremost, feel free to reach out anytime with questions about your Paint Protection Film (PPF). Whether it’s about washing, maintenance, or troubleshooting, we’re here to help.

This guide is made to be a solid foundation, but not an end-all solution. We recommend your vehicle still receives monthly or bi-monthly washes for the PPF to perform at its best over time.

First 72 Hours

Let the Film Bond!

Do:

  • Keep your vehicle dry and shaded

  • Avoid washing or touching the film

Don’t:

  • Rub, scratch, or press on the film

  • Expose it to high-pressure water

⚡ Small air bubbles may appear—they usually disappear as the film settles. If your car gets wet from rain or incidental water, it’s not the end of the world. The adhesive is water-resistant, and normal moisture won’t harm the film. Just dry gently if soaked and avoid scrubbing.

Weeks 1–2

Gentle Care

Do:

  • Hand wash only with pH-neutral shampoo and a soft microfiber mitt

  • Dry gently with a clean microfiber towel

  • Inspect edges and corners for lifting or trapped moisture

Wax/Sealant Notes:

  • Glossy PPF may use non-abrasive wax or paint-safe sealants, but the specific product is crucial—we recommend checking with us first or researching products before applying.

  • Consider asking us about our ceramic coating offerings for longer-lasting protection and easier maintenance.

Don’t:

  • Use automatic car washes

  • Use brushes or abrasive towels

Ongoing Maintenance

  • Wash every 2–3 weeks

  • Use the two-bucket method: one for soapy water, one for rinse

  • Avoid harsh chemicals, scrapers, or abrasive sponges

Pro Tips:

  • Park in shaded areas to prevent UV-related discoloration

  • Minor scratches on glossy film self-heal with sunlight or warm water

  • Bubble or trapped water? → Wait 48 hours → Still there? → Contact us

  • Minor scratch (glossy)? → Sunlight or warm water → Self-healing

  • Edge lifting? → Inspect for debris → Contact us if persistent

  • Contaminant (sap, bird droppings)? → pH-neutral cleaner + microfiber
